Whats the difference between 5 HTP and L-Trytophan and why would your one product over the other. Do they have different uses?
The short answer is that tryptophan needs to converted to 5-HTP which is converted readily to serotonin. It is hard to overdrive the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin as the body generally has effective controlling pathways to limit that conversion. 5-HTP is easily converted to serotonin so it is possible to take too much 5-HPT and get too much serotonin although you would probably have to take a lot to get that effect. Most people that we work with do well with 5-HTP and we tend to use that in formulas like NeuroScience Serene as it has ingredients that are complementary to serotonin production and utilization. If you are one of those that don't do well with 5-HTP in a Serene type formula, you can try tryptophan in the Lidtke formula or the NeuroScience TravaGen.
