Protocol for Life Balance Arginine is a conditionally essential basic amino acid involved primarily in urea metabolism and excretion, as well as in DNA synthesis and protein production. It is an important precursor of nitric oxide (NO) and thus plays a role in the dilation of blood vessels. L-arginine is a conditional amino acid involved in many important physiological processes including urea metabolism and excretion, DNA synthesis, protein production, oxidative defense and hormone secretion. Arginine is also a nitric oxide (NO) precursor; its role in this process will be detailed here.
