Supplements We Take 2025

This is an updated list of supplements we use on a regular basis and our justification for them.

Nitric Oxide Support is important to help keep plaque from building up in the arteries. We had good feedback from our clients with this approach and so have we. Sometimes I will double up the supplements in this case meaning I take the powder form and the capsule form. I do this because some things I want to be sure of.

I keep track of my NO supply by checking my blood pressure most days. Occasionally it is a good idea to get a carotid artery ultrasound.

I have been working on my weight since I was about 9 years old. Strategies like intermittent fasting have been helpful. I also use a GLP-1 support supplement that helps control appetite. The supplements aren’t as powerful as injections but then again don’t have the potential for big problems either.

Approved Medical Solutions Thermo GLP-1

Digestive Enzymes not only help with breaking down your breakfast but also can help with inflammation.

I mentioned liver support in my pain management blog. At the time of this writing, I have been taking way too much pain reliever medication due to a persistent shoulder injury (long story). Keeping my liver (and kidneys) happy is a primary concern. For that I take a lot of NAC and liver support.

BetterGenix NAC 500mg

I should say a few more things about NAC. NAC helps the body make glutathione that is the body’s master cleanse agent. Some have noted that even lead isn’t toxic until your glutathione is depleted. NAC helps keep your liver and kidneys in better shape. Also in a related blog, NAC helps your body rid itself of microplastics. I have talked about NAC in other blogs but now you have a summary of why we keep this around all the time and take it as if it is a lifesaver.

Vitamin D3 is also something that we take religiously. Many chemicals in our environment interfere with Vitamin D synthesis and activity so supplementation is prudent.

We have experimented with supplements to help with cognition and found a few to be helpful. We have been using Percepta and also are experimenting with DNA Prime by InfiniWell.

Percepta Sport

I take tocotrienols, a form of vitamin E that has general anti-cancer properties as well as heart health properties.

Cardiovascular Research Annatto Tocotrienols

Our longest-used supplement. We have a few items we keep around to help with sleep and this is the one we have used since about 1980.

Dee Cee Labs Formula 303

I have used many sleep aids over the years. Another one that I keep coming back to is:

Karuna Sleep Formula

Calcium lactate is our go-to formula for muscle cramping. Cramping can have different causes but this one is most successful when all the other bases have been covered and cramping persists.

I started using niacinamide by the recommendation of my dermatologist. It can be a big help with skin tags. I have been using this for the better part of a decade with excellent results.

Most people over 60 should be taking supplements for hormone support for health in general and for improved brain function protection. To help keep estrogen in line, an added supplement would be DIM.

Thorne Hormone Advantage

Since we are taking our vitamin D, we add some vitamin K as the D tends to suppress the K.

Pure Encapsulations Synergy K

B12 should be high normal, not mid or low normal to keep your brain happy in your later years. Our favorite way to achieve that is with hydroxy B12 (AKA hydroxocobalamin). We find that sometimes people have reactions to the more common methyl B12. The formula listed below adds some adenosyl B12 which seems to be well tolerated in our experience.

Telomere health helps you be more disease and age resistant. Nicotinamide riboside has been shown to help keep your telomeres in a better health state.

Thorne NiaCel 400

Another sleep aid that we both like is:

Bioclinic Naturals Somno-Pro 90 chewable tablets

People also use Somno-Pro as a daytime anxiety reducer. You might give it a try. It is a lozenge so works fast.

A staple for hormone balance is:

Bezwecken PhytoB-L 4X 10ml

I keep up with eye supplements that have stabilized my macular degeneration for the last 12+ years.

DaVinci Laboratories Healthy Eyes

To help with joint health, we have used glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for about 30 years. Currently we are using:

Vital Nutrients Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate

Vitamin C has been a staple since the 1970s. I had several conversations with important people in the vitamin C world. I didn’t have much luck in preventing colds but it seems to have worked like magic in preventing the flu for the past 50 years.

NuMedica C-Bioflav 1000

I also use a few B complex caps a week.

NuMedica B-Replete

Another supplement I have been taking since the 1980s is CoQ-10. I have used several brands but lately I have switched to the NuMedica version to go with the more easily assimilated ubiquinone over straight coq-10:

NuMedica CoQ-Clear 100 Ubiquinone

I use melatonin nightly, not just for sleep but for the immune support it provides.

NuMedica Melatonin 3 mg

I also use some nattokinase as it tends to help keep nasal passages and sinuses in a better health state.

NuMedica Nattokinase

Don’t forget the zinc that is a major player in the immune response.

NuMedica Zinc Glycinate

We have been using and selling NeuroScience products since the company formed many moons ago. We tend to take this as needed. Some our favorite products are:

NeuroScience AdreCor

NeuroScience Avipaxin

NeuroScience Calm PRT

NeuroScience ExcitaPlus

NeuroScience Travacor

I think that about does it for now. As you can see, we take a lot of supplements to give our bodies the raw materials it needs to do its best job. Everyone is a little different so each person has to figure out what works for them.
