Pregnenolone is an endogenous steroid and precursor/metabolic intermediate in the biosynthesis of most of the steroid hormones, including the progestogens, androgens, estrogens, glucocorticoids, and mineralocorticoids. Pregnenolone is biologically active as a neurosteroid. Pregnenolone levels drop dramatically after age 30, and supplements help keep the levels up. Physiologically active pregnenolone, derived from natural diosgenin sterols, is micronized to a very small particle size to facilitate absorption. Micronized form.
