My doctor suggested I take this to help my digestion of vegetables and fibrous foods. Traditionally any sort of lettuces, broccoli, cauliflower, and many other normally innocent vegetables (zucchini, squash) would cause stomach distress for me, usually in the form of gas, gas pains, or even occasionally diarrhea. This has helped me see a great improvement in my ability/willingness to consume those types of foods, as I've seen a reduction in my gastro distress that results from eating them.
