Nice Blood Sugar Help

Several hundred years ago, sugar was a rare and expensive commodity. People probably still had the opportunity to get Type 2 diabetes but you probably had to be wealthy. Of course, Type 1 was an early death sentence before the discovery and manufacture of insulin.

Today, sugar is ubiquitous and it is estimated that 10% of the world's adult population has a blood sugar issue.

With better education and labeling, many more people are paying attention to their sugar intake and that will help blood sugar levels. This isn't the only change but just one to focus on today.

Mostly I want to mention a supplement that has been helpful for me.

If I had my will power pegged, that is eating little to no sugar, alcohol etc, my A1C would never get below 5.6 or 5.7. I have been struggling with being a little overweight since I was about 9 years old so losing that extra 10-20 pounds might be helpful but again, that is a lot of work and the second you quit being hypervigilant, the weight comes back with a vengeance.

One of the brands that we added to our store in the last year or so was Approved Medical Solutions. One product looked interesting to me and at that time was labeled Thermo GLP-1. The FDA didn’t like that name so it has been changed to Thermo.

Approved Medical Solutions THERMO

A few weeks ago, I was at Red Cross to give blood and they have a new gizmo to check the A1C. I was told it measured 5.4. I thought that was a little low and I wasn’t sure this was accurate so checked it with a routine blood test that I tend to run every six months or so and sure enough, my A1C was in that very healthy range.

This is in spite of me not being at my best from a diet point of view. This is why we love to run lab tests, try a treatment like AMS Thermo and then rerun the test to check for changes. The short version of this is: test, treat and retest.

We have a lot of experience with the treatment being supplements as that is the business of OVitaminPro and we get enough feedback from tests to know that intelligently applied dietary supplements along with other lifestyle changes can be of great benefit in many, many cases.

We prefer A1C to a fasting glucose test because the A1C test is looking at the average blood sugar in red blood cells (RBCs). RBCs last about 3 months so we are getting a snapshot not just of one moment but an average of the blood glucose over 3 months. Some RBCs are a few days old and some over two months old etc. RBCs are constantly being made and broken down so the introduction of A1C (sometimes referred to as HbA1C or Hemoglobin A1C) is very helpful.

Some people opt for the injections to control GLP-1 and that can work but it is prohibitively expensive for many and some people have bad reactions like gastroparesis or slowing of the stomach muscle activity etc. In some cases, the injections is the way to go but for people like me, that is marginally overweight, reasonably good with diet control and not willing to spend $1000 a month or more on injections, the AMS Thermo is a nice option.

It is best if you follow the protocol of test, treat and retest if at all possible. That is the best way to know what is working for you.
