Physicians’ Elemental Diet™ is a 100% free form amino acid-based powdered elemental formula intended for distinctive nutritional requirements. Physicians’ Elemental Diet formula provides 150 calories per serving, consisting of 67% carbohydrate, 24% fat and amino acids equivalent to 9% protein. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if open or torn. Keep tightly sealed. Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature. Avoid excessive heat and direct sunlight.

Suggested Use

Thoroughly mix each heaping scoopful (36 g) in 4-8 oz. (118 - 236 mL) chilled or room temperature water. Additional water may be added to the mixture or consumed separately as desired. Consume the mixture slowly over a period of 15 to 60 minutes or more, dependent upon individual comfort. Once mixed, any product that is not consumed after 60 minutes should be refrigerated for a maximum of 24 hours, then shaken or stirred prior to consumption. After opening, store remaining powder in a dry place at room temperature.

Good tasting supplement

I am being treated for leaky gut and this has been one of the few supplements that I can use that doesn't create inflammation. I mix with water and it has a nice vanilla taste. If this is all you eat you will lose weight due to the low calorie count. I personally could lose a few pounds so I counted on that.

Taste good

I had to use this for 21 day fast and it was pleasant tasting. Not something you’ll crave but better that any others. It has kind of a vanilla citrus taste.

Treating SIBO

I'm using this to treat SIBO. I'm currently on day 4. The formula does not taste as bad as I thought it would, it has a weird sweet taste.
Shipping was super fast. I paid for priority but got it next day.

I read horror stories about different brands of the elemental diet. Physicians has a pleasant taste and I did not experience side effects at all!

this powder food is delicious! I am currently dealing with digestive issues , but I will probably continue to incorporate the elemental diet into my lifestyle. I would recommend mix it in a blender , just like you would with protein, so it can break and liquify. Just a few seconds is enough.

Does what its supposed to

This is something that actually does what its supposed to; press the reboot button on your digestive system. But the cost is prohibitive. This is not OVitaminPro's fault. Ive checked into similar products and they are all expensive given the amount you need for a minimum of two weeks. Having said that, the product delivers and if you're like me, this is just what I needed. Having already tried a multitude of products.

Tastes great

I have Crohn's disease and am currently trying to work through a bowel obstruction that just doesn't seem to want to go away. I'm a little nervous about using this as I typically follow the specific carbohydrate diet and this isn't compliant but it's currently the only thing I can put in my body that doesn't immediately cause me pain (even bone broth or straight collagen peptides are causing me pain right now).

I've only been using this exclusively for a couple of days so I can't review yet for treatment efficacy but as far as palatability this is a winner. I've heard that other forms of enteral nutrition taste awful and I'd venture to say I actually like the taste of this stuff. The ingredients are also far more friendly than in any of the other enteral nutrition formulas I've reviewed. So if you care about what you put into your body, this is definitely the way to go.

As far as cost, I've looked at this compared to building my own elemental diet and it doesn't seem like there's a way to buy this quantity of amino acids and quality vitamins and minerals for less, so unless you do the standard physician prescribed enteral nutrition and it's covered by insurance, there's probably no way to do this for less, so I think the cost is reasonable.

I've ordered the dextrose-free version to try next so I'll write a review for that one re: efficacy once I've used it longer.

Simple Solution

This product was recommended to me by my naturopath for eradication of SIBO. This product works great!! My SIBO is minimal after the 2 weeks of using this to replace food. I initially did not love the vanilla taste but you get use to it after a few days and I may continue to use it as an occasional meal replacement shake.

This powder REALLY resets your gut!

I have purchased this and the dextrose free option. I prefer this one over the dextrose free as it is much easier to stir and mix completely with water when you don't have a blender available. I had SIBO the first time I tried this formula, and this along with specific herbal formulas took care of it in 3 weeks. I do a maintenance fast and use this product for one week, twice a year, to make sure I keep my intestines functioning at their best. Another plus this product tastes AMAZING!

Use this product to deal with my SIBO flare up.

I use this product when I have SIBO flare ups. One less star because the powder doesn't dissolves all the way and a little residue stays in the bottom of a glass. Taste is not exactly delicious but not bad either. I have noticed that there is a bit less than 36 servings of powder in a bag, seems always short of one serving towards the end of the bag.

So far, so good! Helped to bring my Thyroglobulin Antibodies down and finally loose some weight!

Only Elemental Diet that tastes good

I blend with ice to make a borderline slushy. Tastes pretty good cold. Definitely recommend blending well. Sometimes I just shake in bottle to mix on the go and it can settle at the bottom. Highly recommend for anyone with SIBO/IBS/bloating issues

This one is a winner

This is my 'go to' nutrition source when I am doing a gut health cleanse and fast. I've tried a couple other products designed for the same purpose but I keep coming back to this one. I feel it is the best fasting product out there for resetting the gut.
