Omega Quant Omega-3 Blood Test Dried Blood Spot Collection Kit Simple and safe blood collection does not require a full blood draw or a trip to the doctor. One drop of blood is all that is needed to assess your nutritional fatty acid status. Carefully follow the instructions for collection of the dried blood spot samples. This is not a fasting test, but no fish oil supplement or medication should be taken within 12 hours of taking this test. Samples can be mailed back in the prepaid business envelope included with the kit. If samples are not mailed within a day of collection, they may be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or in a -80 C freezer for as long as necessary. Each person collecting a sample should fill out a test request form and sample collection card with his/her information. Results will be emailed to the patient within 3-5 business days of sample receipt in the laboratory.
